Create Passion Income – 6 Tips to Making Money Easy
In the past, I never considered using my passions to make an income, nor did I know the term passion income. Instead, I focused on my talents and let them dictate the work I stumbled upon.
I’ll never forget the first time I felt the power of making an incredible income from a marriage between my passion and talent. Until that day, I didn’t think it was possible.
The breeze was warm, and the tropical view was perfect as I sat in the cockpit of my sailboat. One of our guests popped his head up the companionway stairs and said, “Kim, do you mind if I put garlic in the Greek salad?”
It wouldn’t be an odd comment if it were a normal guest, perhaps a friend or family member.
However, the guest (and his wife) we had on our boat were paying guests. Couples and families paid us around $10,000/week to join us on our sailboat and see what it was like to live on a boat.
Side note
Kim, Version 2.0 (we’re on a later version now), lived on a sailboat for ten years with her husband and daughter.
They sailed over 40,000 miles from the Med across the Atlantic and to the US and Caribbean. After five years, the family ran out of money and wanted to keep going, so they sold ‘Sailing Lifestyle Experiences’ so other couples and families could see what it’s like to be a live-aboard sailing cruiser.
Yes, it’s a thing. Thousands of people live and sail around the world on boats. Cool, isn’t it?
Back to the guest asking if it was okay to put garlic in the salad.
People joined us on our boat to fully immerse themselves in the sailing lifestyle. That meant they cooked, cleaned, anchored, helmed, trimmed the sails, controlled the dinghy (small boat to get to land), and so forth.
Getting Paid To Live – Passion Income
Simply put, we got paid for people to see how we lived and help us with that living!
I got paid to sail, snorkel, eat at excellent restaurants, stroll down white tropical beaches, and, most importantly, forge interesting connections with what became new friends—all our guests were amazingly interesting, kind, beautiful people.
My husband and I worked hard to get bookings, and fortunately, we booked up fast. When we started our charter business, I had no idea it would work. I didn’t think I would enjoy the work as much as I did – it’s physical labor!
Merging passion with talent
My husband and I coupled our love of the sailing lifestyle with our talent for teaching others how to live the same life.
For various reasons, we had to leave our sailing life behind reluctantly. Our daughter was getting older and wanted to go to a real school. My mom had health complications that needed attention.
So, here I am now. Kim Version 3.0 recreating myself. This time, I’m marrying my passion for living a fulfilling lifestyle (Authentic expression with my health, wealth, connection, self-love, career, creative expression, hobbies, etc.) with my content creation and teaching/coaching talents. It’s passion income!
Expressing Authenticity
If you scratch below the surface, I’m doing the same thing I did before, but without the boat and sailing bit. All our guests wanted one thing – they wanted to find a way to spend their time feeling fulfilled. Isn’t that what we all want?
So, have you ever felt that deep satisfaction when doing something you love? You know, that feeling of being in your element, where time seems to fly, and you’re completely immersed in the moment’s joy.
Imagine coupling that passion with your unique talents to earn passion income—a powerhouse combination ready to unleash your full potential!
Passion is the Fuel
Passion is the fuel that keeps our engines running. It’s that spark that ignites our souls and propels us forward.
Teaching others how to live their most authentic self is not just a job; it’s my calling. It’s the reason I jump out of bed every morning with a sense of purpose and excitement.
Think about what sets your heart on fire. Is it solving problems, working with children, recommending products you love, creating works of art, playing around in the kitchen, making videos, or something entirely different? Your passion is your compass, guiding you towards a life that resonates with your deepest desires.
Turn Your Passion Into Profit
Now, let’s talk about talents – those unique gifts that set you apart. I discovered early on that my knack for content creation, be it writing, making videos, or crafting social media posts, was my ticket to amplify my message. It’s like having a powerful vehicle to carry your passion to places you never thought possible.
Your talents are the tools in your toolbox. Identify, sharpen, and use them to build the bridge between where you are now and where you want to be. Your talents are your allies on this incredible journey.
The Passion Economy
Your passion is the sail, and your talents are the wind that propels your ship forward. When they work in harmony, you become an unstoppable force.
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
Steve Jobs
The synergy between passion and talent is the secret that turns the ordinary into the extraordinary. It’s about aligning your daily efforts with what brings you joy, creating a purposeful and authentic life.
Why Passion Income Matters
Let’s delve into some cold, hard facts. According to a Gallup poll, 85% of employees worldwide need to be more engaged or are actively disengaged. That’s a lot of people spending a significant portion of their lives doing something they’re not passionate about. Don’t become a statistic – you deserve better. We all deserve better.
When you marry your passion with your talents, work doesn’t feel like a chore; it becomes an expression of your true self. You’re more likely to excel, innovate, and find fulfillment in your endeavors. Studies have also shown that people who align their passions with their work are generally happier and more satisfied with life.
Turn Your Passion Into Money – Tips to Get Started
1. Reflect on Your Passion
What makes your heart race? What could you talk about for hours on end? Identify your passion, no matter how big or small.
Passion can be hard to see. It took me months to realize that I love talking about transformation, growth, overcoming challenges, breaking barriers, developing relationships, seeking longevity, and living life to the fullest.
I mistakenly overlooked my passion. I considered it a hobby or something I did in my spare time. Even though I spent every day learning about these key topics, I didn’t see a connection between them and a career.
Guru’s often say what you’re looking for is at the end of your nose! Well, they’re right. So, what do you talk about incessantly?
2. Identify Your Talents
What are you naturally good at? What skills make you unique? Recognize and embrace your talents. If it’s hard to figure out what you’re good at, ask a family member or friend. Everyone else around us often sees us better than we see ourselves!
3. Explore Overlaps
Where does your passion intersect with your talents? This is your sweet spot. Whether it’s a career change, a side job, or a one-off project, find ways to integrate them.
Now, more than ever, it’s easy for anyone to set up a company and do anything. Passion and talent are so powerful.
4. Passion is Attractive
When my husband and I sent our first email advertising that we’d take guests on board to teach them the lifestyle, we had no idea it would work. No one was doing this kind of thing. Also, we had a child on board. Would that put our guests off? Contrary to my beliefs, our guests loved that our daughter was on board, and she got presents from all of them!
There is a famous car TV show that used to air in England. It’s called Top Gear. It also came to the US on Amazon called Grand Tour. The three presenters, James May, Richard Hammond, and Jeremy Clarkson, did a weekly show presenting cars, doing silly tests/experiments, going to remote places worldwide, and talking about the cars they were driving.
The guys were not particularly attractive. The information they provided about the cars wasn’t comprehensive. What made the show work was that the three guys were super passionate about cars, and they were all excellent presenters.
I’m not too fond of cars. I couldn’t care less about them. I did, however, love this program, and it dawned on me that it was because there was a marriage of passion and talent. They understand passion income.
5. Continuous Learning
Never stop growing. Invest time honing your talents and expanding your knowledge in your chosen field. The more you know, the more value you can bring to your passion.
I have a Skillshare account and several courses on Udemy. If I’m not on one of those platforms, I’m learning from YouTube or other instructors. The number of tools available nowadays is incredible. Since AI arrived, I’ve seen things that used to take me hours (editing a video) reduce to minutes!
Get out there and start playing around with learning, experimenting, and expanding. It’s fun! Check out this book: From Passion to Income: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Profitable Small Business
6. Connect with Like-Minded Souls
Surround yourself with people who share your passion. Join communities, attend events, and collaborate with others. The collective energy of like-minded individuals can be a tremendous source of inspiration.
Remember, this journey is yours, and the destination is a life filled with purpose, joy, and fulfillment. So, what’s your passion, and how can you use your unique talents to turn it into a reality?
The world is waiting for the extraordinary magic only you can create. Embrace your passion, unleash your talents, and watch your life transform into a masterpiece. You’ve got this!
